About this calculator

This tool counts down to a moment you choose, showing the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining, and it updates every second. The date, time and event name you enter are stored in the page address in a readable form. That means the countdown travels with the link: copy the address, send it to someone, and they see the same countdown to the same moment, with no account and no sign-up.

The countdown runs in your browser and uses your device's clock and time zone. A friend in another time zone sees the countdown reach zero at the same real moment, just at a different local clock time. If you only need a countdown to a well-known holiday, the links below jump straight to ready-made countdown pages for dates such as Christmas and New Year. For anything personal, a wedding, a trip, an exam or a birthday, this page builds it for you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share my countdown?
Set up the countdown, then copy the page address from your browser. The date, time and event name are all stored in the link, so anyone who opens it sees the same countdown. There is nothing to install and no account to create. The link works on phones, tablets and computers.
Can I count down to a specific time, not just a date?
Yes. The time field is optional. If you leave it blank the countdown runs to the start of the chosen day, at midnight. If you set a time, the countdown runs to that exact moment, which is useful for a flight, a deadline or midnight on New Year's Eve.
Does the countdown work across time zones?
The countdown reaches zero at a single real moment. Each person viewing it sees that moment shown in their own device's local time. So if you count down to an event at a fixed time, everyone watching reaches zero together, even though the clock time differs between countries.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The countdown stops at zero and then shows that the moment has passed, so the page still makes sense after the event. You can change the date at any time to point the countdown at something new.
Do you store my countdown or event name?
No. Everything you enter stays in the page link and in your own browser. The event name and date are not sent to a server or saved by DayCalc.io. If you want to keep a countdown, bookmark the link or save the address yourself.
